Hedi Slimane's First Menswear Collection for SAINT LAURENT

I guess, since Givenchy isn't having a collection this season, the Saint Laurent (I admit it, I'm still crying for the "Yves") menswear collection was the most anticipated show during Paris Fashion Week.

It was Hedi Slimane's first menswear collection since he took the reigns of Saint Laurent and, although I was expecting something bigger, a bit more shocking (remember his collections on the late nineties for YSL? Oh, sweet memories), I loved it this way too.

Ok, moving past that resemblance, I'd say that this collection was quintessentially Hedi Slimane and oh-so-rock'n'roll. It was like having him walking the catwalk. From the leather jackets to the skinny ripped balmain-ish jeans and leather pants, to the cropped jackets, checkers shirts and classic coats, everything seemed so great, but, at the same time, so very un-Yves Saint Laurent.

These clothes are for those skinny, carefree & rockish band (and bad) boys that we very much admire. The hair, the outfits, the swagger! I'm guessing this is what he was reffering to when he changed the name of the brand. This collection would never work with the elegant "Yves".

All in all, I'm a sucker for this collection (although not much a Slimane fan anymore), but I'm sure Yves (the man) is rolling in his grave after having it (funny how he thought Tom Ford ruined his brand).

Here are all the outfits, enjoy them and feel free to express your opinions on it!

And here's a photo of Hedi at the end of the show, so you can see the uncanny resemblance:

Top 10 Best Dressed - Critics' Choice Awards 2013

Happy New Year, dearest readers! And sorry for the lack of posts lately.

As many of you already know, besides sales season, January and February are also important in the movie industry. This is the time when some of the most prestigious awards are given and the red carpet outfits have to be outstanding. I know People's Choice Awards are more popular than the Critics' Choice Awards ceremony, but I personally didn't think that this year there were enough impressive gowns to make a top ten out of them and that's why I chose to publish this top first.

BUT there will be a top 5 favorite gowns at People's Choice Awards 2013 today, so keep close.

Feel free to disagree, this is my personal opinion. Don't forget that style is a matter of taste!

La Blouse Roumaine

Hello, dearest readers! I know I've been quite absent for a while, but I figured that this is the best moment for my comeback.

Today we celebrate the Great Union in Romania and I believe one of the best way to promote your country and to show your love for it is to wear the Romanian folkloric costumes (the Romanian dress). I remembered that Yves Saint Laurent was inspired by said costumes and in 1981, he created "La blouse roumaine".  Other designers that have been influenced by the Romanian dress are Tom Ford,  Phillippe Guilet, Joseph Altuzarra, Jean Paul Gaultier, Oscar de la Renta.

Here's what the blouse looked like and below that you can see a Romanian traditional blouse (ie):

Maison Martin Margiela x H&M Lookbook

And here it is, one of the most anticipated collaborations of 2012, Maison Martin Margiela for H&M. After seeing the preview photos all over the internet a few days ago, I was dying for the lookbook to appear. I must say, although this is probably the collaboration that shocked me the most, I really was expecting it to be the greatest so far, since I've always been a fan of MMM.

I absolutely adore the shoes, the coats, jackets and the accessories (how cool is the glove shoulder bag?!), I'm not really a fan of what they came up with regarding the clothes. The do have the Margiela touch, but I'm positive that they could have done much, much better than this.

My intention is not to offend the collection or those who like it, I believe that sometimes, fashion really is a matter of taste.

What do you guys think about the collection? Will you be buying the pieces?
